The Recession Is Officially Over

After some hard economic times and uncertainty, I am glad to inform you that the recession is over, if you want it to be. It is up to you to declare that there are good times ahead, and that from now on everything is going to get better. Regardless of how many people around you are still suffering from a severe case of stinkin' thinkin' (via Zig Ziglar), you are the only person who can keep you from getting past this recession and moving forward.

In the early 80's, I was living in the Portland, Oregon area, and unemployment for males between the ages of 18 and 25 was around 25% there. That just happened to be the age that I was. Because of the declining lumber industry in the Northwest, the recession was worse there than most areas in the United States. As long as you were willing to move to someplace like Denver, which I did, then there were jobs available and the economy was relatively unaffected by the recession. What does that have to do with today? Here is good news!!! You do not need to move. Now you can make money online. Certain pockets of the country, and certain industries, are now thriving because of the changes that people have had to make in their lives and their habits. You can have your own work-at-home business and sell to people any where, right from your home.

The best place to be right now FOR EVERYONE is to own your own small business. That was true in the early 80's also, which is why I owned a small janitorial business, and my wife (at the time) and I ended up making enough money to do that full time. It was not easy. We both worked full time jobs and got up very early every morning and worked very hard cleaning office buildings before going to our jobs. That is still one way to have a small business, but almost 30 years later, manual labor is not worth as much today as it used to be in the United States. It is very difficult to compete in a service business today that is mainly unskilled labor.

In the past two years things have changed dramatically in the overall economic and marketing plan for most companies and individuals. The competition, in most cases, has been weeded out, and a lot of weaker businesses and marketing people have been eliminated from the competition. That is what happens when there is an over-inflated economy based on over-inflated housing prices over several years. In Florida and southern California and Arizona, real estate doubled in less than five years up until 2008. What did you think was going to happen? Whether or not that was a bubble created by bad banking practices or bad government or market manipulation can be debated forever, but any reasonable person could see that the end of that bubble was not going to be pretty. The people who owned houses in those areas were able to borrow money against their fake house values, and were spending money like crazy. When the housing bubble popped, they stopped spending and had a big pile of bills to pay.

Right now there are ways for you to get started on owning your own work-at-home business, if you have not already done so, and position yourself to make good money heading out of this global recession. Even if you are employed, you should start making money with a business of your own, just like I did, and many other people did, in the early 80's. Don't wait for the news media and your friends and family and neighbors to re-assure you that the recession is over, because you want to be ahead of the crowd and have some money already coming into your established work-at-home business so that you can capitalize on it when everybody is saying that the economy is good. The best time to start a business is in an economy that everybody thinks is bad. If you can make it there, you really can make it anywhere. And your business will have very strong roots and good work habits and principles and be prepared to weather any storm.

The best kind of business to own right now, for most people in most places, is a business where you can sell something to people in any location. As the money flow gets distributed, and some cities and towns and areas emerge from their economic situations, some places will do better than others. Assuming you do not want to move from place to place, being able to sell to the people that are in the places where money is flowing freely is a good situation for your business to be in for the next few years. So that means that if you are looking for marketing opportunities or sales opportunities for your work-at-home business, you want to be able to sell anywhere. Of course, you might be in a place where the economy is so hot right now that you are busy trying to keep up with all the orders and inquiries, but most people are hoping that will happen in their community, but it has not happened yet. Once again, don't wait for the good economic times to come to you, position yourself to do business with people who are in the places where the economy is already moving ahead. By using the Internet, the telephone, and all of the social networks available now, your work-at-home business will be visible to people who are in areas that have the best economies over the next few years.

When the times get tough, the tough end up making a killing. JC Penney and J Paul Getty made their fortunes during the Great Depression in the 30's. Nike became the best stock pick of the 80's by selling high priced tennis shoes and running shoes, and Nike was located right in the same area where as I was living at that time, where unemployment was sky high and the housing market was horrible. The people who see the positive aspects of an economy that everybody is complaining about, are the people who come out smelling like roses and find a way to win.

There are several work-at-home businesses that you can consider by going to my website at
